LGBTQIA2S+ Supportive Therapy

LGBTQIA2S+ Affirming Therapy

As previously mentioned, I am deeply committed to providing inclusive, affirming, and compassionate care for adults and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone can feel understood, respected, and empowered on their journey toward mental and emotional wellbeing. I provide knowledgeable and supportive counseling addressing specific issues that can impact the LGBTQIA2S+ community, including:

– Coming Out and Disclosure

– Self-Acceptance and Self-Affirmation
– Gender Identity, Transgender Specific Concerns, and Transitioning
– Relationship and Family Dynamics
– Internalized Homophobia and Transphobia
– Sexual Orientation and Identity Exploration

I believe in a holistic approach that considers all aspects of your identity and experiences. My goal is to support your mental, emotional, and physical well-being through comprehensive and inclusive care. I am here to help provide affirming and empowering support in navigating life’s challenges.

Gender Affirming/Transition Surgery and HRT Counseling, Assessment and Letters:

I use WPATH: World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). I have been trained by the Gender Education Network in the WPATH Standards of Care and use of the Gender ASSET evaluation tool to support letter writing for gender-affirming surgeries and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Many surgeons and insurance companies require a letter, and often times evidence of counseling and a gender dysphoria diagnosis, to consider a patient ready for gender-affirming/transition HRT and surgeries. As an ally to the community and as a clinician trained in the WPATH Standards of Care, I can provide you with the necessary counseling, assessment, and collaboration of care needed to not only write a letter on your behalf but also to ensure that you are properly prepared and supported for your exciting and life-changing journey.

LGBTQ Family, Friend, Ally Support

As an ally and family member, I personally understand challenges and confusions that many well-meaning and loving support persons face. The learning curve can feel steep and overwhelming at times, and often those who wish to support members of the LGBTQIA2S+ fear making mistakes that will hurt their family member or friend. Therapy can be a valuable resource not only for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals but also for their family members, friends, and allies. Each group faces unique challenges and opportunities in supporting and understanding LGBTQIA2S+ identities. Therapy helps address these needs, fostering stronger relationships and promoting personal growth.

LGBTQIA2S+ family members and friends often seek therapy to better understand and accept their loved one’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Therapy provides a space to address confusion, resolve conflicts, and learn how to support their loved one effectively. Therapy for family members, friends, and allies often improves communication, understanding, and interpersonal dynamics while providing support, guidance, information, and resources to the supportive individual.

I make every effort to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for family members, friends, and allies to explore their emotions and acquire valuable information and resources with the goal of allowing them to maintain healthy relationships with their LGBTQIA2s+ loved one.
